Evidence to protect development
There are many reasons why the areas surrounding Offham Road should be protected from development. The key reasons are detailed below and can be used in any response to the local plan proposals.

Reason 1
Green belt land
Green belt land makes up 70% of the borough which includes the land around Offham Road. Green belt can only be utilised in exceptional circumstances

Reason 2
Conservation Area
There are multiple areas within the village confines of West Malling that give it reasons to be a conservation area

Reason 3
High quality soil
There are very few areas of grade 1 agricultural land within the borough but there is some located in the fields around Offham Road
